Shellee Harrington brings a broad range of experience to the field of mental health counseling. She first earned a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Florida State University. She was drawn most to those nursing tasks which involved patient education. After working in nursing for several years, Shellee served as an adjunct professor at Tallahassee Community College.

During this time, she pursued graduate work in Instructional Design. Shellee worked with both corporate and nonprofit clients, including the Florida Department of Education, designing educational programs. She gained a great deal of knowledge about how people learn, how to best help promote changes in actions or behaviors, and how to present new material so that it can be "heard".

Shellee then put her knowledge and skills to work in the local community by facilitating home-school groups for parents and children and leading summer programs for disadvantaged children. She particularly enjoyed watching as these families learned new coping strategies and ways of interacting with each other.

Mental health education was a natural outgrowth of all of these endeavors. Shellee graduated from CACREP-accredited Adams State College with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health and became a Nationally Certified Counselor. She has worked within a variety of clinical situations, including both private and agency settings helping adults, families, adolescents and children deal with a broad range of challenges, including:
  • Childhood Trauma
  • Family Crises
  • Addiction
  • Family violence
  • Foster placement
  • Life Transitions
  • Parenting Issues
While Ms. Harrington’s practice includes individuals at all stages of life, she retains a special interest in those between 10-25 years old. Her specialized training and broad experiences in health and education give a breadth to her counseling practice.

Shellee is currently being supervised by Randy Vickers, LMHC as she works toward Florida licensure. Please see her Professional Disclosure for further information
